Cllr Heledd Fychan - M.S. for South Wales Central has welcomed the announcement by RCT that work is scheduled to start on repairing the White Bridge.  The bridge has been closed since Storm Dennis in February 2020, causing chaos for road users and massively affecting the quality of life of many residents of Berw Road.

This news follows only 3 weeks after the launching of a petition calling for urgent action.

  • 50 Days until the Senedd election

In 50 days, you’ll have the chance to vote for who you want to represent you in the Senedd and to elect the next Welsh Government.
In Pontypridd, a vote for Heledd Fychan and Plaid Cymru is a vote for change, a vote for a brighter future, a vote for a representative who will fight to ensure that our communities receive the services we need and deserve.

  • Call for strategic approach to flooding

BBC Flood Feb 2021We have seen too many times the terrible impact that flooding can have on our homes and businesses. Here in Pontypridd people are still dealing with the results of the flooding from a year ago.
Every time it rains heavily now, people are anxious it could flood again which has a massive impact on their mental health.

“The need for an Independent Inquiry remains, and the fight continues until we secure justice for those affected and investment in flood prevention measures. Our communities will not be able to rest easy until this happens, and I call on the Welsh Government to re-think their position to date, and establish an Independent Inquiry as a matter of urgency.”

  • Fresh concern over flooding

A Message from Cllr Heledd Fychan on the morning of the 20 January.

"Many people have contacted me, worried about the risk of flooding. The river is high and fast flowing in Pontypridd this morning and obviously concerning as it is still raining. But, for residents, please keep an eye on this for the latest updates and be reassured that it is nowhere near as high as last February at present and no red river warning:
