Specialist Palliative Care Ward under threat

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has announced a consultation on how Specialist Palliative Care is delivered in the RCT / Merthyr / Bridgend Area.

One of the proposals is to close the eight-bed SPC ward at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon and move provision to at-home care. Plaid Cymru candidates have welcomed the increase in at-home care, but we believe this should be done alongside the continued provision in Ysbyty Cwm Cynon.

    Thank you!

    Thank you

Byelections to be held on the 17th July.

After the sad news that Dawn Wood has stepped down from her role as Plaid Cymru Councillor for Pontypridd Town Ward - on both RCT and the Town Council - due to health reasons, local Plaid Cymru members and other residents living in the ward have called a by-election to fill the Town Council seat. It’ll be held on the same day as the RCT by-election.

Plaid Cymru select Wiliam Rees to contest the seat

At a meeting of Plaid members in the town Wiliam Rees was selected unaminously.

Wiliam said: “This is a byelection that no-one wanted and I want to give credit to Dawn in making the hard decision to stand down in order to concentrate on her health. The huge number of messages that have been sent wishing her all the best say more than I ever can in terms of how well she was respected in the town.

I look forward to meeting and talking to you over the next month and setting out my vision for our town and priorities for the ward.”
